|Name :||2011 Hofberg *Auslese*|
|Vinyard – Location||The Grand Cru Hofberg is one of the greatest Mosel vinyards. In 1868 the vinyards of this hill were classified by the Preußen as an extraordinary place to make great Rieslings. The main part of the vinyards in our region are situated on the Mosel river. But not the Hofberg. It`s a lovely quiet side-valley on the Dhron river with weathered devonia slate in mixture with quarzite. Riesling vines are today 30 to 60 years old and some are still ungrafted.
A perfect place to vinify remarkable wines. Even though young the wines often show a striking exotic fruit, subtle spice, wild slate aromas and a finesse of acidity.
|Winemaking notes||The vineyards for this wine are located in the centre of the Hofberg with full south exposition. The noble rotten grapes from this part of the Hofberg are all selected by hand. The selection starts in the vinyards where we only pick the botrytis. In the cellar we select one more time to get the best of it. In case of two selections of the botrytis the amount of this noble sweet wine is less and not given every year.|
